PROCEDURAL MODELLING
ENCHANTED CAVE
Enchanted Cave is a scene created in Houdini with procedural modelling only. It was my first time using procedural techniques in a piece, lots of trials and errors. Painful process, enjoyable results.
Node-based modelling system
Create leaf base
Bend with curve
Copy with rotation
Randomize length and add noise to geometry
Attach stem
Copy with randomization in scale
Final Step: scattering on heightfield
Same process with other plants
All procedural plants scattered on the heightfield
Earliest stage of blocking out the scene, testing lighting in black and white mode
Testing out different camera angles. Plants were scattered with basic shapes and no modification in randomization.
